What do Speech Pathologists do?
Communication

Language Development: Building vocabulary, improving sentence structure, teaching grammar, and helping with understanding instructions (receptive language) and expressing ideas (expressive language).

Fluency: Providing strategies for smoother speech to manage stuttering.

Social Communication: Teaching cues for conversations, turn-taking, understanding humor/sarcasm, and adapting language to different situations (e.g., school, work).

Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC): Introducing tools like sign language, picture charts, or high-tech devices for those with limited verbal speech.

Literacy: Working on phonological awareness, spelling, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
Oral Motor and Articulation

Personalized therapy using fun, targeted exercises such as blowing bubbles, straw drinking, and facial stretches to build lip, tongue, and jaw strength and coordination

Specific articulation drills, phonetic placement guidance (with mirrors), and play-based activities to improve sound production, leading to clearer speech, better eating, and increased confidence.
